Brins Fire

The Brins Mesa fire is currently burning in Oak Creek Canyon approximately 20 miles south of Fort Tuthill. The fire is 100 percent contained and poses no danger to this facility. Highway 89 is open. More information is available on the Coconino National Forest web site.

 

Forest Closure

Due to the increased fire danger, the Coconino National Forest will close to the public starting Friday, June 24th. Areas included in the closure are:

All campgrounds, day use picnic areas and cabins on the forest
All trails on the Coconino National Forest
All lakes, including Lake Mary, Ashurst Lake, Kinnikinick Lake, Blue Ridge Reservoir, and Stoneman Lake
Cinder Hills Off-Highway Vehicle Area north of Flagstaff
Arizona Snowbowl Skyride
All National Forest System Roads will be closed, but all interstates, state and county roads through the Coconino National Forest will remain open

Fort Tuthill will remain open but the campground and RV area may be closed at a later date. More information and a list of non-forest outdoor activities are available on the Coconino National Forest web site.
